Frank Grazian, Editor and Publisher of Alternative Health News Online, is a Professor Emeritus of Communications at Rowan University in New Jersey.
An award-winning journalist, Grazian has written for, and has been cited in, scores of national publications, including The New York Times, Newsweek, and Time. Grazian, a member of the American Medical Writers Association and the Society of Professional Journalists, co-founded the journalism major at Rowan and served as its chair for 10 years. His current mission--based on a 40-year interest in health and wellness--is to educate people about the pros and cons of alternative medicine. "Too many people," he says, "don’t know how to separate the hogwash from the proven and promising therapies in alternative medicine. I hope this site will help them do that." Grazian's main interests center on preventive medicine and healthy aging. "I firmly believe," he says, "that, if people learn how to take care of themselves, they can live longer and enjoy their senior years in good health." Grazian has had first-hand experience in many of the alternative therapies he covers as a medical journalist. He has either taken courses in, or been a recipient of, the following modalities: biofeedback, self-hypnosis, meditation, Alexander Technique, osteopathic manipulation, yoga, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, progressive relaxation, guided imagery, and Chinese QiGong. He is also a student of nutrition and herb usage. Grazian has served as a content provider and has written anti-aging articles for America Online's Alternative Medical Forum. The site is financed by Grazian with his own money and does not accept advertising. This enables him to be totally unbiased in choosing and reporting both traditional and alternative medical news. The only revenue received by the site is a small percentage from amazon.com for any recommended books sold.
